Mike Cooke

Mike was born in California to a native Californian dad and native Texan mom. He spent his growing up years moving back and forth between Los Angeles and Houston. After getting degrees from TCU and Vanderbilt, this native Californian married a native Texan and moved to Colorado in 1978. It was a return to roots since the one grandparent that was so influential in his early life had moved to Denver in the late 1800s.

Mike worked for 13 years as an Environmental Engineering consultant after graduating from Vanderbilt. Looking to make a career change in the mid-1980s, he was intrigued by the prospect of becoming a real estate agent.

There was just one problem – all the career skills tests he took told him to avoid any type of sales profession. Mike, however, believed that consumers did not really want a “salesman” when buying and selling something as important as real estate – he believed they wanted a consultant to help them make wise choices.

That instinct proved to be true and allowed Mike to build a successful real estate practice. He loves taking people through the buying and selling process while educating them on their options, maximizing their bottom line and being a passionate advocate for their best interests.

Mike is also a licensed mortgage loan officer. He became co-owner of Colorado Home Realty and its affiliated mortgage company in 2009. Today, he spends his time on operations for both companies, on "professional development" of agents and loan officers, originating loans and getting his real estate clients connected with skilled agents at his company that share Mike’s approach to real estate.

Mike’s passions include climbing Colorado’s 14ers, The Teaching Company, Despair.com, Flying, Astronomy, Politics, Faith, Reading, Back to the Future, Star Wars (Original), Pretty much any movie with good guys and bad guys where the good guys win, Grown Kids, First Wife (who happens to be his current wife), Country Music and Fly Fishing.
